WoodSwallow has been distinguished this Monday with the ‘Sustainable SME’ award. This within the framework of the VI SME of the Year Award. This award is granted by Banco Santander and the Chamber of Commerce of Seville, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Spain and the ABC newspaper. More than 1,766 companies from all sectors have participated in this new edition, the sixth of this award.
“We are very flattered. We did not expect this award. WoodSwallow is a young company, 100% international and committed to sustainability. Today more than ever we are well aware that ‘the future will be sustainable, or it won’t be’ (…) For me, as an expat, it is an honor to be able to work with a team from Seville, educated at the University of Seville and from Seville. Thank you for this recognition”, said Manuel Álvarez during the award ceremony held in Seville.
WoodSwallow offers consulting services, design, and development of IoT (Internet of Things) products and embedded systems. Since its founding in 2017, the company has been committed to creating quality jobs in Seville. Currently we have around 50 hardware, firmware and business engineers. Our clients are multinationals based in the United Kingdom and the United States dedicated to smart energy metering. A strategic sector for energy efficiency and the fight against climate change.

The Seville 2022 SME of the Year Award went to the centenary Sevillian company Grupo R. Queraltó. In addition to WoodSwallow in the cateogory of Sustainable SME, three other awards were presented. Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos in the category of Internationalisation. Grabysur in the category of Innovation and Digitalisation. And Alimentación y Bebidas Díaz y Cadenas, for Training and Employment.
The event was attended by the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Seville, Francisco Herrero, with the South territorial director of Banco Santander, Manuel de la Cruz. Both the company Grupo R. Queraltó, as well as the winners of the four runners-up prizes, including WoodSwallow, will compete for the National SME of the Year Award 2022 and the national final in the different categories. The name of the winners will be announced in the first months of 2023, at a major event to be held in Madrid.
