The Chair of the Internet of Things has launched the second edition of the IoT Chair awards for the best Master’s Thesis (TFM) and Bachelor’s Thesis (TFG) related to the Internet of Things and smart energy management.
“We are proud to be able to announce this second edition of the awards for the best TFG and TFM after the success of the first edition, in which we received works of great technical quality. We hope that this edition will reach even more engineering students and that they will be eligible for the prizes offered by the Chair”, said Antonio Torralba, director of the IoT Chair.
The chair is promoted by the University of Seville and the technology-based company WoodSwallow and aims to promote teaching and research activities related to IoT and smart energy management. Among the activities planned by the chair are the aforementioned awards, as well as grants to support TFG and TFM and master classes related to these topics, among others.
“We encourage all engineering students with concerns and interest in the field of IoT and energy management to find out about and participate in the chair’s activities. This is a field with enormous potential in the coming years, and an excellent topic of study and research on which to carry out a bachelor’s or master’s degree project“, emphasised Manuel Álvarez, CEO and founder of WoodSwallow.
Who can apply?
These awards are aimed at students from any branch of engineering at the University of Seville. The TFG and TFM submitted must deal with a topic related to the Internet of Things, with those dealing with intelligent energy management applications or electromobility being positively valued. The topics covered are divided into two categories: Hardware category and Embedded Firmware category.
In the case of the Hardware category, projects on analysis, research, development, prototyping or implementation of antenna design for embedded equipment, design of low-power IoT equipment or inverters for domestic installations, among others, may be submitted.
In the Embedded Firmware category, projects related to these fields can be submitted, such as projects on cellular communications for embedded devices (e.g. 5G, LTE-M or NB-IoT), energy telemetry protocols or embedded firmware design based on RUST.
The full list of topics covered in this 2nd edition of the IoT Chair’s best TFG and TFM awards can be consulted on the Chair’s website.
What do the awards consist of?
All those engineering students of the University of Seville with TFG or TFM presented and qualified between 1 October 2022 and 30 September 2023 at the University of Seville that are related to any of the proposed topics, may submit their candidacy and opt for one of the four prizes that will be awarded in this new call 2022/23.
Specifically, two prizes of €2,000 each will be awarded to the best TFG and two prizes of €2,500 each to the best TFM presented in this edition.
